International Scientific Conference “Theory and Practice of Production in Agri-Food Sector” was held on December 1st at Faculty of Economic Sciences of Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW. The conference was organised by Department of Economics and Economic Policy.
The aim of the conference was to exchange the ideas of economic theory on agri-food production and to identify the contemporary processes in agri-food sector and rural areas. The scope of the subject presented during the conference covered topics connected to agri-food sector, among others, production factors and markets, issue of competition and competitiveness, problem of food quality and safety, trends in consumption of food products, essence of public support, risk factors, and problem of production financing and profitability.
The conference was opened by Dean of Faculty of Economic Sciences, prof. Jarosław Gołębiewski.
Representatives from 12 domestic scientific research centres (Poznań University of Economics and Business, Cracow University of Economics, Wrocław University of Economics, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, University of Zielona Góra, University of Agriculture in Krakow, Poznań University of Life Sciences, Świętokrzyskie Polytechnics, Institute of Soil Science and Cultivation SRI, Institute of Agricultural Environment and Forest Sciences PAS, Instute of Agricultural and Food Economics SRI, and Warsaw University of Life Sciences) and 5 foreign scientific research centres participated in the conference. Prof. Csaba Forgacs from Budapest Corvinus University, prof. Bazhana Turebekova from L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University Kazakhstan and prof. Stanislava Kontsevaya from Russian Timiryazev State Agrarian University were among the international participants. Doctor honoris causa of WULS-SGGW, prof. Andrzej Czyżewski was the special guest of honour.
Two plenary sessions and as many as six subject sessions were held during the conference (out of which, two in English). 46 presentations were prepared and delivered, stimulating a lively discussion.
